CQR wins Innovation in Payment Solutions at EGR Awards 2010

eGamingReview (EGR) honours bwin payment subsidiary CQR with a B2B Award in the category of "Innovation in Payment Solutions".

Vienna/London, 17 June 2010. CQR Payment Solutions, the bwin payment services subsidiary, was presented with an EGR B2B Award for its innovative solutions in payment processing on Monday, 14 June 2010 in a tough field against seven industry competitors. "This award encourages us in our endeavour to evolve from a payment provider for online gaming to a fully automated B2B payment services institution. We have been successful in covering the entire payments value chain and offer our customers a comprehensive line-up of secure and user-friendly payment services”, says Kamran Hedjri, managing director of CQR.

The international jury of experts at eGamingReview explained their rationale for awarding the prize to CQR: “An innovative approach and an understanding of the customer needs has provided impressive, sustained business growth.”

2009 driven by the extension of B2B services
CQR achieved a major milestone in October 2009 by obtaining a license from the British Financial Services Authority (FSA) to operate as an "Authorized Payment Institution". With this license, CQR took an important step toward extending its B2B services to online traders and online gaming companies by allowing the company to handle all stages of a payment transfer for its business customers. CQR now provides a prepaid credit card issuing platform and offers these services to B2B customers.

Fully authorised payment services institution
CQR now offers over 60 local payment options for 22 countries, in 16 different currencies. The company's line-up covers the entire range of payment services not just for companies in online gaming, but other industries as well such as online retail, consumer electronics, travel, media, and online auction marketplaces. Every year, CQR processes a transaction volume of more than EUR 1 billion on its certified payment platform. As Kamran says, "Our next goal is to become the first provider with a gaming background to obtain full authorisation as an acquirer. This will allow us to close credit card acceptance contracts with B2B customers. We are confident that we will achieve this objective in 2010."

EGR B2B Award
The EGR Awards are the most prestigious accolade in the online gaming industry. For the first time, they were also awarded for services and B2B providers this year. The awards were presented at the "EGR Live" fair in London at a gala presentation on 14 June 2010.
